When people think of the Las Vegas valley, they imagine a place where it is always warm, okay burning hot, and sunny. However, wintertime in Southern Nevada can bring temperatures down into the 30s and 40s. When that winter cold moves in, families may turn to indoor activities for fun and entertainment. From rock climbing for the adventurous to IMAX movies for the cinema buffs, there are a variety of family-friendly indoor activities in Las Vegas and Henderson to keep you warm during the winter months.
The museum offers children young and old multiple hands-on exhibits and experiences. Youngsters can enjoy science experiments, engage in make-believe play and dress-up, learn about water conservation and healthy lifestyles, and much much more. The museum also hosts traveling exhibits and is available for group events and parties.
Station Casinos offers bowling at four of their valley-wide locations: Red Rock, Sunset Station, Santa Fe Station and Texas Station. Whether your family is looking for a traditional game or a psychedelic night of cosmic bowling, Station Casinos offers convenience and good times.
At the south end of the strip, the Southpoint Casino offers 64 lanes for family fun. The bowling center was named Best of Las Vegas in 2013 and 2014 and is located steps away from the family friendly, and easy on the budget, Steak ‘n Shake restaurant.
Indoor Rock Climbing
Located just 15 minutes from the Strip, Red Rock Climbing Center allows adventure seekers young and old the opportunity to scale 8,000 sq. ft. of climbing terrain, 35 ft. high lead walls, 1,000 sq. ft. of roof, 2,500 sq. ft. of unique bouldering and features over 50 top-rope and lead routes.
With 22,600 sq. ft. of space and 600 unique climbing experiences, Origin Climbing & Fitness provides classes, training and open climb times in the southeast valley. Henderson’s newest climbing facility also offers a Kids Climb Time on Saturday and Sundays at 2 and 3 p.m.
Located just off the Las Vegas Strip, Brenden Theaters offers convenience for both tourists and locals alike who are seeking a state-of-the-art movie experience. With stadium-style seating featuring high-back rocker seats, your family is sure to enjoy an afternoon or evening enjoying the latest hits on the big screen.
For those living in or visiting the north end of the Vegas valley, the Aliante Hotel & Casino offers one of the area’s newer movie theater experiences, including IMAX formats. We recommend parking around the back of the complex for easy access to the theater without having to take the family through the casino.
